Welcome to Peel en Maas, an area with in the west the characteristic turf-lands of national park De Groote Peel and in the east a lovely valley and river de Maas. The busy river provides a fascinating spectacle and flows past the attractive historical villages of Baarlo and Kessel.
On the higher, sandy grounds in the west, you will find rustic villages such as Helden, Panningen, Maasbree and Meijel. Each with its own story and character. Maasbree and Helden with their old agricultural character situated on vast fields and sandy grounds. Here you can also enjoy various forest and nature areas, such as the extensive nature reserve De Heldense Bossen. There is also a recreation park here, ideal for a wonderful holiday or an exciting day of relaxation. In the centre of the municipality is Panningen, the municipality's shopping centre. Further west, on the famous Peelrand near National Park De Groote Peel, we arrive in the village of Meijel.
During the day, you can enjoy shopping and lunch in shopping centre Panningen and in the evening, you can enjoy a luxurious dinner in a real castle, like a lord or lady of the manor. If you are a guest in the spring, then of course the 'white gold' should be tasted!
